In a collaborative effort, Assam Rifles and Cachar district police successfully intercepted a drug trafficking operation in the Jirighat area of Cachar district, Assam. Acting on a tip-off, the joint team conducted a thorough search, leading to the discovery of 19 soap cases containing 420.57 grams of suspected heroin. The arrested drug peddler, Haominthang Dungle, a resident of Tamenglong district, Manipur, was found in possession of the illicit substance.
The estimated value of the recovered heroin in the international market is approximately Rs 2.94 crore. The apprehended suspect has been handed over to the Jirighat Police Station for further investigation.
Assam Rifles remains committed to combating drug trafficking in the region, conducting regular anti-drug operations to curb this menace.
In a separate incident, Assam Rifles also seized 100 grams of heroin and arrested two drug peddlers in Manipur. The operation, based on specific information, took place in the Khonghampat area of Manipur’s Thoubal district. The arrested individuals, Md Abdul Salam and Md Abdul Latif, both residents of Thoubal district, were found in possession of the contraband. The estimated value of the recovered heroin in this case is approximately Rs 1 crore in the international market. They have been handed over to the Thoubal Police Station for further legal proceedings.
