Agartala: Dec 19: A remarkable incident occurred on the way to GB Hospital, when an ambulance driver had to assist in delivering a baby due to severe labor pains of a pregnant woman. The incident took place at the Badamura Hill.
According to reports, a 24-year-old pregnant woman, Puja Roy Majumdar, the wife of Sanjay Majumdar from Kamalnagar in Mohorchhara, Teliamura, was admitted to Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital with labor pains. As her condition worsened, the doctors decided to refer her to GB Hospital. She was transferred by ambulance, but while traveling through Badamura Hill, her condition rapidly deteriorated, and she went into labor in the ambulance itself.
With no other option, Narayan Biswas, the ambulance driver, and the woman’s mother, who was accompanying her, had to assist in delivering the baby in the vehicle. The courageous driver and the mother managed the delivery in the ambulance before safely taking the mother and her newborn daughter to GB Hospital. Thankfully, both the mother and the baby are reported to be in stable condition.
Hospital sources revealed that if the delivery had not been conducted immediately, there could have been serious risks to both the mother and the newborn. The family of the pregnant woman expressed their gratitude for the quick thinking and bravery of the ambulance driver, Narayan Biswas, whose timely action ensured the safe delivery of the baby. This incident highlights the importance of prompt medical response and the courage displayed by individuals in challenging situations.
