Agartala Government Dental College Celebrates Second Foundation Day

Agartala: Dec 18: Agartala Government Dental College is a significant milestone in the field of health education in the state. It was unimaginable for anyone that a dental college would be established in the state. Thanks to the sincere efforts of the Prime Minister, this long-cherished dream of the people of the state has been fulfilled. Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said this while speaking at the second foundation day celebration of Agartala Government Dental College at Agartala Town Hall today.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister further said that Agartala Government Dental College should be developed in such a way that students who graduate from here can feel proud. At the same time, emphasis should be given to fostering a cordial relationship between the faculty and students of the college. Parents should also be aware of whether their children are attending classes regularly. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the state’s first Agartala Government Dental College in the IGM Hospital complex on December 18, 2022.

 

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha said that various initiatives have been taken to enhance the infrastructure of Agartala Government Dental College. Laser treatment and 3D printing labs have already been started in the college. In addition, plans have been made to enhance various infrastructural facilities for students’ studies, research, and providing patient care services.

 

The Chief Minister said that from the 2023-24 academic year, BDS courses have started in the college with 50 students. Currently, the number of seats in this college has increased to 63. The state government is committed to providing better healthcare services to the people of the state. With this goal in mind, the state’s health infrastructure is being developed extensively. District hospitals are being developed to reduce the patient load in state hospitals. Recently, kidney transplantation has also started at Agartala Government Medical College, which is a significant aspect of healthcare in the state. In the future, liver transplantation is also being considered in the state. Additionally, nine super specialty departments have been started at Agartala Government Medical College. Initiatives have also been taken to establish a private super specialty hospital in the state at a cost of 700 crore rupees. The Chief Minister said that the people should have faith in the state’s doctors and medical services. At the same time, doctors need to provide services with a positive attitude to gain the trust of patients.

 

Professor (Dr.) Shalu Bai, the principal of Agartala Government Dental College, also addressed the event. Additional Secretary of the Health Department, Bajib Dutta, Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Tripura Medical Education, Dr. Haraprasad Sharma, and Director of Tripura Health Services, Dr. Sanjib Debbarma were also present at the event. Students who excelled in the BDS course exams for the 2023-24 academic year were awarded at the event. Additionally, winners of various games organized during the college’s sports week were awarded prizes. The Chief Minister handed over trophies and certificates to the winners.
