Agartala, July 14, The 12-hour bandh called by the Left Front in Agartala city failed to make a significant impact. Despite the ruling party’s appeal for support, normalcy prevailed throughout the day.

The bandh was called in response to the attack on CPI(M) Zilla Parishad candidate Badal Shil, who tragically lost his life on Saturday. However, the situation on Sunday was markedly different. With it being a holiday and Kharchi Puja celebrations underway, people were occupied with other activities. Consequently, traffic remained unaffected, and markets and shops operated as usual.

Although some members of the Students’ Federation staged protests in the Mela Maidan area, the general public did not heed the bandh call. Long-distance buses continued their regular routes, including those from the main bus stand in Agartala city, Nagerjala, and Radhanagar. Additionally, devotees flocked to the Khayerpur Chaudda Devta temple in Khwairapur throughout the morning.

In summary, the bandh organized by the Left Front faced minimal response, highlighting the challenges of mobilizing public support in Agartala city.
