Agartala: Nov 04: Authorities in Agartala discovered a substantial amount of adulterated oil being sold by a local shopkeeper, who lacked the required import license. This investigation, prompted by reports of illegal activities, revealed that the oil originated from Bangladesh. The shopkeeper operates two additional stores, where similar violations were suspected. As a result, the shop has been temporarily shut down, and legal actions are underway against the owner.

In addition to the adulterated oil, officials conducted a thorough inspection of other commodities in the shop, including rice, to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. The presence of such illicit products raises serious concerns about public health and safety, prompting the authorities to act decisively. They are committed to eradicating illegal trade practices and ensuring that consumers have access to safe, quality products. This case underscores the importance of regulatory oversight in the marketplace, especially in regions where illegal imports may pose significant risks to consumers. The investigation will continue as authorities seek to hold accountable those involved in the distribution of counterfeit goods.
