According to the details of the incident, in July 2019, Debashish Das went to the house of a minor girl in Nehal Chandranagar area and raped her, taking advantage of her loneliness. The minor girl gave birth to a baby girl in April 2020. The minor’s mother filed a case at the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station on May 5, 2020. After hearing the testimony of a total of 22 people, the court announced the verdict on Friday. The court sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Additionally, the court sentenced him to an additional one year of imprisonment for non-payment of the fine.

Hon’ble Justice Debashish Kar also sentenced the accused to three years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 under the IPC section, with an additional six months of imprisonment for non-payment of the fine. This verdict has provided justice to the minor girl and serves as an exemplary punishment to deter future crimes against women.
