Kailasahar, June 23: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest on Monday at Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya in Kailasahar, condemning an alleged attack by members of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) during the ongoing admission process.

The demonstration, led by ABVP department coordinator Anup Kanti Majumdar and Unakoti district coordinator Ayush Deb, drew a large number of students in a united show of dissent. The protest centered around an alleged incident in which ABVP’s helpdesk and members of the college council were reportedly targeted by SFI activists.

Majumdar described the incident as a “pre-planned act of aggression,” accusing SFI of trying to destabilize the academic environment and intimidate students under the pretext of student politics. He also criticized the college administration for remaining silent despite having been notified in advance, calling their inaction “deeply troubling.”

The protest further spotlighted alleged online threats, including a death threat against ABVP Chandipur branch secretary Ankan Pal, which demonstrators cited as an example of rising hostility on campus.

ABVP leaders demanded immediate legal action against the accused and called for a restoration of campus peace. A memorandum was submitted to the authorities, urging strict punitive measures and the protection of students’ rights to operate in a safe and democratic academic space.

In response to growing tensions, police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel were deployed around the campus to maintain order and prevent further unrest.

ABVP warned that the agitation would continue until justice is delivered and security for all student organizations on campus is guaranteed. The incident has sparked fresh debate over student politics and the need for maintaining discipline in higher education institutions.
