Allegedly, a young man named Liton Sheel of the same area got a dune lease from the state government in Jatanbari Shanti Colony area of Gomti district and planted a total of 350 rubber trees in 5 areas two years ago. Then a few days ago Jatanbari called the Forest Vit Officer Prosenjit Sheel and demanded a bribe of two lakh rupees and said that if the money is not paid then the rubber plantation will be destroyed. Although Liton Shil showed the land plot to Prosenjit Banik, Forest Officer Prosenjit Banik informed that it would not be of any use. Later on last Sunday at around 3 pm, Forest Vet Officer Prosenjit Bonik along with other workers illegally cut down and destroyed the entire plantation of Liton Sheel and his colleague, the leaseholder, that too without any notice.
Later Liton Shil Parn filed a written complaint to the PCCF of the Forest Department and on Tuesday also when Liton Shil Gomti District DFO complained about the incident in detail, the DFO misbehaved with Liton.
It is known that the victims are preparing to file a case at the police station after reporting the incident of forest officer Prosenjit Banik. They demanded that Forest Officer Prosenjit Banik should compensate them for the entire amount of money they had spent to build the rubber plantation. Meanwhile, Jatanbari Forest Vit Officer Prosenjit Banik is demanding the punishment of Prosenjit Banik in the entire area.
