Agartala: Mar 13: In a significant development, CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury has vociferously opposed the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He asserted that the CAA is not only unconstitutional but also runs counter to the secular principles enshrined in our country’s Constitution.

Chowdhury criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of undermining democracy and amassing immense wealth over the past decade. According to him, the BJP’s actions amount to a grave injustice, and this malfeasance has not escaped the scrutiny of the Supreme Court.

The recent revelation regarding electoral bonds has further intensified the situation. On Tuesday evening, the State Bank of India furnished detailed information about electoral bonds to the Election Commission. As per the Supreme Court’s order, the commission is now obligated to publish this information on its official website by next Friday.

In a curious twist, the BJP’s timing in implementing the Citizenship Amendment Act has raised eyebrows. Rather than waiting until after the Lok Sabha elections, the Act was hurriedly put into effect just before the election announcement. Some speculate that this move is an attempt to divert attention from the electoral bond controversy.

Amar Bengali State Committee Secretary Gaurang Rudra Pal also expressed dissent against the law, adding to the growing chorus of voices questioning its legitimacy.

As the political landscape heats up, citizens eagerly await the unfolding of events, hoping for transparency and accountability from both the ruling party and the opposition.
