State-wise Indian Language Day will be observes 11th December

Agartala: Dec 08: State-wise Indian Language Day celebrations will be held on December 11. Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the program at Rabindra Centenary Bhawan in Agartala. The main theme of this year’s Indian Language Day is ‘Many Languages, One Language’. Ravel Hemendra Kumar, Special Secretary of the Education Department, gave this news in a press conference today at the Press Conference Hall of the Secretariat.

He said that according to the decision of the Ministry of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of the Government of India, December 11 every year from this year will be celebrated as Indian Language Day. Multilingualism is the cornerstone of unity in India’s diversity. The special secretary said that this program is mainly for the purpose of learning about each other’s language and encouraging this among the youth.

In a press conference, the Special Secretary of the Education Department said that a decision was taken to celebrate the birthday of the famous Tamil poet Subramaniam Bharati on December 11 every year as Indian Language Day. Apart from being a freedom fighter, Subrahmanyam Bharati was also a leading poet of Tamil poetry. Various programs are being organized in various schools, colleges and educational institutions as a part of Indian Language Day celebration from last 28th September and it will end with Indian Language Day celebration on 11th December.

He said that along with other parts of the country, initiatives have been taken to organize various programs at school, district and state level. These include online essay competitions, talk shows on Indian Language Day, booklet releases, multilingual cultural programs, district-wise programs. He said that AICTE has developed a language translation application tool called ANUVADINI on the occasion of Indian Language Day celebration. This application tool will help to translate different languages.

The Special Secretary also said that different programs are organized at different times based on language. International Mother Language Day is celebrated on February 21 every year in view of UNESCO’s announcement to respect and promote mother tongue. Higher Education Department Director NC Sharma was also present at the press conference.
