Agartala: Dec 18: “People’s response to the Prime Minister’s rally was totally negative”, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman made this comment at a press conference on the Prime Minister’s rally and his speech at Swami Vivekananda Maidan. On Sunday, Agartala Swami Vivekananda Maidan held a rally in the name of official function bringing the Prime Minister. He said, people had lot of expectations from the PM that he will announce something new especially for the youth, development of the state but all we’re frustrated. Though it was declared as a government programme and at an expenditure of Rs 20 crore of people’s tax money. The Prime Minister spoke about various issues in that gathering. He spoke of highway and hotel management institutions and for which fund was allocated during the time UPA 2 government. Before raising fingers to the opposition he should know the past of the NE region. Modi removed planning commission and formed NITI ayog. NITI ayog cannot allocate funds, only make recommendations, so that Modi’s name is there in every inauguration planning commission. MLA Sudip Roy Barman said that there was no enthusiasm among the people for the gathering which was forced by spending the money of the government treasury. The Agartala Akhawara rail link is not of Modi’s regime nor the airport development as both funds are of UPA times allocation. Even the griha pravesh many of these beneficiaries were threatened to attend or would not receive their instalments, even MGNREGA job card holders were compelled to attend the event.Teachers and students were kept standing in the roadside. Ayushman card holders are not being referred or not getting benefits. He even didn’t complete his previous commitments and came here to inaugurate projects of UPA regime. The dental college that the PM inaugurated still does not have a principal and the 9 faculties are of the AGMC and who have submitted a declaration that they shall not work outside. The Prime Minister did not say anything new. He could not show any direction through his discussion. Sudip claimed that the assembly of the day was boycotted by the people and minorities. He said that the so-called rally of the Prime Minister, which was drummed up, was a complete failure. People refused. The public will be ejected from the field by showing a red card during the election game.
