‘We need food-not tobacco’ ie ‘We want food, not tobacco’!

West Tripura district-based World No Tobacco Day was celebrated on Wednesday at Agniveena Hall in Jirania.
The event was organized by the office of West Tripura District Chief Health Officer Tourism Minister Sushant Chowdhury inaugurated the event Note that the main theme of this year’s World No Tobacco Day is ‘We want food, not tobacco’

Inaugurating the program organized at Agniveena Hall, Tourism Minister Sushant Chowdhury said that World No Tobacco Day is celebrated on May 31 every year under the initiative of World Health Organization. World No Tobacco Day is celebrated to make people aware of the negative effects of tobacco consumption on the human body. In the event, the tourism minister urged everyone to keep themselves healthy and come forward to create a beautiful drug-free society He said to stay away from tobacco consumption If all of us follow this then drug free society will be developed

On this day, the Minister of Tourism recited an oath to all present to stay away from tobacco consumption In the welcome address of the event, West District Chief Health Officer Dr. Debashis Das explained the significance of observing the World No Tobacco Day. On the occasion, state cancer specialist Arup Roy Burman gave a PowerPoint presentation detailing the ill effects of tobacco consumption. Yogendranagar Urban Primary Health Center and Jiraniya Social Health Center were awarded for implementing anti-tobacco program in the district on this day. Apart from this, Jiraniya Nagar Panchayat, Defense Department was also felicitated. Jiraniya Panchayat Samiti Chairman Manju Das, Pritam Debnath Vice Chairman, Nagar Panchayat Vice Chairperson Rita Das, Ranibazar Pur Parishad Chairperson Aparna Shuklabaidya and others were present in the event.
