On Wednesday, workers from the Bengali side joined the protest in front of the state office in Shivnagar. Gaurang Rudrapal, state secretary of Amra Bengali Dal, said that the government has inhumanely evicted seven families in Raiabari.

Desperate families were displaced by extremists in 1999. Then, with the help of the government, they found a place to live in Raiabari area. But then the people of the local population created animosity between them. Finally, the government took the help of the forest department to evict these seven families from there. And last few days ago they were inhumanely evicted from there with bull dodgers by the government. My Bengali strongly condemned this incident. Such incidents are reminiscent of the June 1980 massacre. Thousands of Bengalis then became homeless. Many Bengali houses were burnt. Instead of rehabilitating them, the government brought a package of Rs 600 crores from Delhi to resettle the refugees from Mizoram. In the state, Congress, CPIM and now BJP have been following the policy of pandering to Bengalis. We Bengalis have been protesting against this policy of the government, and will continue to do so in the coming days. We are demanding from the Bengali side that the movement will continue until the 1980 riots and the rehabilitation of the seven families who were evicted at present will be financially supported, said State Secretary Gaurang Rudrapal.
