Agartala: Apr 05: Government of Tripura has been awarded the “Best Performance Award on Electronic Procurement in the category of North Eastern state”, said Pranajit Singha Roy, Finance Minister of Tripura.
He said this during a press conference in the secretariat on Wednesday during a press conference in presence of the state’s Finance Secretary Brijesh Pandey and other senior officials.
The state government was awarded by the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology during the National Workshop on Electronic Procurement held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on 27th March last.
The Minister said that the Tripura government had given thrust on bringing transparency in the system and as a part of that initiative the state government has made provision in Delegation of Financial Rules, which mandates compulsory – Procurement for all goods and services valued above Rs. 25000/-.
Singha Roy claimed that this has brought transparency in procurement process and also reduces the cartel formation of vendors and the e-Procurement practices encourages involvement of MSMEs in tendering process.
He added that tax compliance has increased by ensuring that all vendors for government products and services are registered for taxation and moreover, fair competition is possible as the bidders information is hidden along with cost effectiveness through minimization of cumbersome manual tendering process, and effective participation of bidders having pan India presence.
The Finance Minister said that in the State Finance Audit Report, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India for the year 2021-22 has appreciated Government of Tripura for making the e-payments for all the transactions except regular pension and 80.13% of the payment was made through electronic mode.
