Agartala, Oct 8: Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday chaired a meeting in Jirania Sub-Division to review arrangements for the upcoming Durga Puja festivities, with officials focusing on law and order, traffic management and public safety.
The meeting was held at the conference hall of the Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office and was attended by elected representatives, police officials and officers from various government departments.
Officials discussed preparations for conducting the annual festival in a peaceful and orderly manner and reviewed measures to ensure uninterrupted essential services during the festive period.
The meeting also took up arrangements for the movement of devotees and residents, particularly around puja venues and other locations expected to witness large gatherings.
Chowdhury stressed the need for effective coordination among different departments and agencies to ensure that all preparations are completed ahead of the festivities.
He urged officials, elected representatives and local stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and minimise inconvenience to residents during the festival.
The minister emphasised the importance of communal harmony, brotherhood and social cohesion during the celebrations.
He said the collective efforts of the administration, police, public representatives and local residents would be crucial for ensuring peaceful festivities across Jirania Sub-Division.
Traffic management was another key issue discussed at the meeting. Officials reviewed measures to regulate vehicular movement and facilitate the safe movement of devotees, particularly near major puja venues and crowded areas.
Public safety arrangements were also discussed, with emphasis on ensuring that adequate measures are in place to deal with challenges that may arise during the celebrations.
Chowdhury said coordinated action by all stakeholders would help ensure that devotees can participate in Durga Puja celebrations safely and conveniently.
He also appealed to people to cooperate with the administration and follow the guidelines issued for the smooth conduct of the festivities.
The minister conveyed his greetings to the people on the occasion of Durga Puja and wished them happiness, peace and prosperity.
He said the festival should strengthen bonds of friendship, unity and togetherness among people.
Seeking the blessings of Goddess Durga, Chowdhury expressed hope that Durga Puja would be celebrated across the sub-division with enthusiasm, mutual respect and communal harmony.
The meeting formed part of the administration’s preparations for the festival, with officials reviewing arrangements to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
