Agartala, October 2: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Friday directed workers to intensify grassroots outreach ahead of a programme to distribute yarn and government certificates among beneficiaries in Krishnapur constituency on October 13.
Debbarma, who is also the Krishnapur MLA, reviewed preparations for the programme at a meeting held at the BJP Mandal office in the constituency.
The event will be organised at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds near Chakmaghat Barrage, with Chief Minister Manik Saha expected to attend and hand over certificates to beneficiaries besides overseeing the distribution of yarn, organisers said.
Addressing workers and supporters, Debbarma emphasised the need to ensure that eligible families are made aware of the programme, particularly those residing in tribal and remote areas.
He asked workers to undertake door-to-door visits and personally inform residents about the October 13 event. They were also directed to maintain regular contact with households and ensure that eligible beneficiaries are not left out.
Debbarma said government services and welfare benefits should reach citizens irrespective of their political affiliation and urged workers to spread awareness about various government schemes and services.
Members of the BJP’s Tribal Morcha were also asked to participate in the outreach campaign, particularly in remote villages where communication gaps may limit awareness about government initiatives.
The meeting was attended by BJP Mandal general secretary Wathrai Molsum and other local leaders, workers and supporters.
Discussions focused on beneficiary outreach, mobilisation and arrangements for the proposed programme. Preparatory work at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds is already underway, organisers said.
The October 13 event will include distribution of yarn to beneficiaries in support of traditional livelihood activities, along with presentation of government certificates to eligible residents.
Residents of Ratia, Durgapur, South Durgapur and adjoining areas are expected to benefit from the initiative, according to organisers.
Debbarma directed workers to give particular attention to remote and tribal habitations where residents may have limited access to information about government schemes and public services.
He also called for coordination among local workers and organisers to ensure smooth arrangements for the programme and wider dissemination of information across the constituency.
The minister stressed that grassroots-level communication would be important in reaching families who may otherwise remain unaware of the services and benefits available to them.
Workers were asked to continue their outreach efforts in the run-up to October 13 and ensure that information about the programme reaches eligible households across Krishnapur.
Organisers said the initiative is expected to benefit residents from several parts of the constituency.
