Agartala, September 27: Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Sunday listened to the 138th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat at Lok Bhavan here and called for greater public participation in nation-building initiatives.
Nallu listened to the programme along with officers and employees of Lok Bhavan, their family members, security personnel and CRPF personnel posted at the premises.
Speaking to reporters after the programme, the Governor said Mann Ki Baat highlights developmental activities, achievements and initiatives being undertaken in different parts of the country.
He said the monthly broadcast also brings attention to issues concerning the public and encourages citizens to remain informed and contribute to the development of the nation.
Nallu said the Prime Minister has repeatedly called upon citizens, especially the youth, to take an active role in the country’s progress.
He stressed that collective participation and responsible citizenship are important for achieving broader development goals.
The Governor also highlighted the Prime Minister’s call for greater efforts to make India free from drug abuse.
He urged citizens to create awareness about the harmful effects of drugs and encourage young people to stay away from substance abuse. He said concerted efforts by communities can help in creating a drug-free society.
Referring to the One District, One Product (ODOP) initiative, Nallu urged the people of Tripura to promote the state’s distinctive local products and help expand their reach beyond the state.
He said Tripura has several traditional and locally produced items that can gain wider recognition in national and international markets through effective promotion and greater market access.
The Governor specifically called for efforts to promote the state’s bamboo resources and traditional bamboo products.
He also urged stakeholders to highlight indigenous food items and other locally produced goods, saying such initiatives could support local producers and create livelihood opportunities.
Nallu called upon citizens, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to work together to give greater visibility to Tripura’s traditional products and strengthen their presence in wider markets.
The Governor said efforts to encourage local production, entrepreneurship and market access can contribute to economic activity and livelihood generation in the state.
The programme at Lok Bhavan provided an opportunity for officers, employees, their families and security personnel to participate together in the nationwide broadcast.
