Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday participated in a special programme commemorating the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Shri Guru Ravidas Ji, where he ceremonially handed over a sacred Kalas containing soil brought from the saint’s birthplace in Varanasi (Kashi), Uttar Pradesh, to the BJP district leadership.
The programme was held at the Sri Sri Ramakrishna Saradeshwari Math on Akhaura Road in Agartala and witnessed the participation of BJP leaders, religious figures, devotees and members of the public. As part of the commemorative celebrations, a Shiv Rudrabhishek and Maha Yajna were organised, creating a spiritually significant atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said the observance was not merely a religious event but also an opportunity to spread the timeless teachings of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji, whose philosophy of equality, social justice and human dignity continues to guide society even today.
The Chief Minister said the “Sampriti Sankalp Abhiyan” has been launched with the objective of carrying the saint’s message of harmony, fraternity, service to humanity and social equality to every corner of Tripura. He noted that Guru Ravidas Ji devoted his life to eliminating social discrimination and inspiring people to embrace unity and compassion.
Dr. Saha emphasised that the ideals of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji remain highly relevant in modern society, particularly at a time when strengthening social cohesion and mutual respect is of paramount importance. He urged people to follow the saint’s teachings and contribute towards building a society based on equality, brotherhood and inclusive development.
Expressing hope that the saint’s message would continue to inspire future generations, the Chief Minister said preserving and promoting such spiritual and cultural values is essential for maintaining peace and harmony in society.
The event was attended by Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder, BJP leaders, prominent citizens, religious personalities and a large number of devotees and followers, who paid tribute to the revered saint on the occasion of his 650th birth anniversary.
The ceremonial handover of the sacred Kalas symbolised the state’s commitment to preserving India’s rich spiritual heritage while promoting the universal values of equality, compassion and social harmony championed by Sant Guru Ravidas Ji.
