The Elderline Tripura Team, in collaboration with Drishti Darpan Eye Care Centre, successfully organized a Free Eye Screening and Consultation Camp today at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Old Age Home, operated under the Social Welfare & Social Education (SWSE) Department, Government of Tripura.
The initiative was undertaken with the objective of providing accessible and quality eye care services to the elderly residents of the home. A dedicated team of ophthalmologists and eye care professionals conducted comprehensive eye examinations and consultations for the inmates, focusing on the early detection and management of age-related eye conditions.
During the camp, residents were screened for refractive errors, glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, cataracts, and other vision-related ailments commonly affecting older adults. Cataracts, one of the leading causes of preventable vision impairment among senior citizens, received special attention during the examinations. The medical team also provided personalized guidance regarding treatment options, preventive care, and follow-up consultations wherever required.
A total of 44 residents underwent thorough eye check-ups during the camp. Free medicines were distributed to beneficiaries based on medical requirements, ensuring immediate support for those in need.
The authorities of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Old Age Home expressed their sincere appreciation to Elderline Tripura and Drishti Darpan Eye Care Centre for bringing essential healthcare services directly to the doorstep of the elderly residents. They highlighted the importance of such initiatives in promoting the health, well-being, and quality of life of senior citizens.
The camp reflects the continued commitment of Elderline 14567 and its partners towards safeguarding the welfare of older persons and ensuring that they receive timely healthcare support and assistance.
