Agartala, June 2: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday announced that the process of establishing a modern international-standard cricket academy in Tripura is progressing rapidly, with a suitable location already identified for the ambitious project. The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s sports infrastructure and create better opportunities for aspiring cricketers.

The Chief Minister also informed that the state government is taking all necessary measures to ensure the timely completion of the international cricket stadium currently under construction at Narsingarh. He stressed the importance of accelerating the pace of work so that the project can be completed without delay and serve as a major sporting venue for the region.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while attending a programme for the distribution of 108 cricket kit bags at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The event was organized by the Tripura Cricket Association with support from the State Bank of India (SBI).

Addressing players, officials, and sports enthusiasts, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting cricket and other sporting activities across the state. He said several initiatives are being undertaken to provide advanced coaching, training facilities, and modern infrastructure to young athletes, enabling them to compete at higher levels.

Emphasizing the role of sports in youth development, Dr. Saha said the government is focused on creating an environment where talented sportspersons can flourish and achieve success. He noted that the proposed cricket academy, along with the upcoming international stadium, would play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing sporting talent from Tripura.

“The government remains committed to nurturing the talent of the youth and creating an environment where young sportspersons can excel,” the Chief Minister said.

The initiative is expected to boost cricketing standards in the state and help place Tripura more prominently on the national sports map.
