Addressing a press conference at the CPI(M) state headquarters in Agartala, Chaudhury claimed that a growing nexus between sections of the ruling party and criminal elements had created a concerning situation in the state. He questioned the functioning of the police administration, alleging that officers at police stations and district levels were working under political pressure.

According to Chaudhury, if law enforcement agencies are influenced by political leadership, effective action against criminals becomes difficult. He further alleged that several individuals arrested in recent criminal cases had links with the BJP at Morcha and Mandal levels.

The CPI(M) leader also accused certain senior BJP leaders of having links with illegal activities, including drug-related networks, and alleged that such political connections were preventing strict action from being taken.

Apart from state issues, Chaudhury criticized the Central government’s economic and foreign policies, claiming that policy decisions had adversely affected the country and created difficulties for ordinary citizens.

He also reiterated that CPI(M) remained the principal opposition force in Tripura and maintained its commitment to opposition unity under the INDIA alliance at the national level, while emphasizing that parties opposing the BJP should demonstrate that position through their political actions.
