Kanchanpur, March 30: In view of the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections scheduled for April 12, the Kanchanpur Police Station on Monday convened an important all-party meeting to reinforce adherence to election guidelines and ensure a peaceful polling process.
The meeting, held at the police station around noon, was chaired by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Srikanta Pal and witnessed participation from representatives of various political parties active in the region. The initiative aimed at fostering coordination among stakeholders while reiterating the administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the election period.
Addressing the gathering, OC Pal made a firm appeal to all political parties to strictly comply with the Model Code of Conduct. He emphasized that any violation of election norms would be dealt with seriously, underscoring the administration’s zero-tolerance approach towards activities that could disrupt peace or influence voters unfairly. He also highlighted the crucial role of political parties in ensuring a democratic and transparent electoral process.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, OC Pal informed that schedules for rallies, public meetings, and campaign-related activities have been finalized through mutual discussions and coordination among the contesting parties. This, he said, would help prevent clashes, overlaps, and unnecessary tensions during the campaign period.
He further assured that the overall law-and-order situation in Kanchanpur remains calm and under control at present. Adequate security arrangements are being planned, and police personnel will be deployed strategically to maintain vigilance and respond swiftly to any untoward incidents.
The proactive approach taken by the police has heightened the political atmosphere in the constituency, with parties now under increased pressure to adhere strictly to the prescribed norms. Observers believe that such coordinated efforts between the administration and political stakeholders will play a key role in ensuring that the elections are conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.
With just days remaining for polling, authorities continue to focus on preparedness, urging cooperation from all sections of society to uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
