According to reports, alert traders at the Sonamura market became suspicious after noticing fake notes being used during transactions. Acting promptly, they devised a plan to apprehend the युवक and successfully caught him in the act. He was then handed over to personnel from the Sonamura Police Station.

Police officials confirmed that counterfeit notes amounting to ₹8,000 were recovered from his possession. During preliminary interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that the fake currency had been sourced from the Bashpukur area, raising concerns about a wider network involved in such illegal activities.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the counterfeit notes and identify other individuals connected to the racket. Officials suspect that the network may not be limited to Sonamura alone and could have links to nearby areas as well.

Law enforcement sources indicated that the case may lead to the unearthing of a larger organized supply chain dealing in fake currency. Police have assured that stringent action will be taken against all those involved, and efforts are underway to dismantle the network and prevent further circulation of counterfeit notes in the region.
