Amid rising concerns over the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and its potential impact on fuel availability, Tripura’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the state’s preparedness in ensuring uninterrupted supply of petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders.

The meeting, held at Pragna Bhavan, brought together senior officials from the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department along with key stakeholders, including petroleum dealers and LPG distributors. The session also featured an awareness programme aimed at promoting coordinated efforts among all parties involved in the supply chain.

During the meeting, the minister took stock of the existing fuel reserves and reviewed the distribution network across the state. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a smooth and stable supply system despite external uncertainties arising from the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, a region crucial to global petroleum production.

Chowdhury urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and cooperative, ensuring that the supply of essential petroleum products continues without disruption. He stressed that any negligence or lack of coordination could lead to unnecessary public anxiety, which must be avoided at all costs.

To prevent such situations, the minister issued clear instructions and advisory measures aimed at strengthening monitoring mechanisms and maintaining transparency in distribution. He also warned against any attempts at black marketing or hoarding of fuel, stating that strict action would be taken against violators.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chowdhury reassured citizens that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in Tripura. “We have thoroughly reviewed the situation. The state currently has sufficient stock, and additional supplies are already in transit,” he said, urging people not to panic.

The review meeting served as a proactive step by the state government to address concerns stemming from global developments. Authorities reiterated their commitment to ensuring that essential commodities remain readily available and that the public does not face any inconvenience in the days ahead.
