Tripura has taken a major step towards strengthening its micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ecosystem with the launch of two new incentive schemes under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) framework. The initiatives were unveiled by State Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma at a ceremony held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala on Friday.

The newly introduced schemes—the Tripura RAMP Transport Incentive Scheme 2025 and the Tripura RAMP Partial Reimbursement of Loan Incentive Scheme 2025—aim to reduce operational challenges faced by entrepreneurs, especially those related to high transportation costs and limited market access. Addressing the gathering, Minister Chakma said that MSMEs in Tripura often incur heavy expenses while transporting goods outside the state, which affects their competitiveness. The new incentives are designed to ease this burden and encourage entrepreneurs to explore wider markets.

Under the transport incentive scheme, the government will reimburse 50 percent of expenses incurred in transporting secondary raw materials and packaging materials from the seller’s nearest railway station to the buyer’s location. In addition, MSMEs participating in state and national trade fairs will be eligible for a 50 percent reimbursement of travel and goods transportation costs, capped at ₹1 lakh per participation, with a maximum of two participations per year. Participation in international fairs will require prior government approval.

Minister Chakma also outlined the government’s broader roadmap for 2025, which includes infrastructure development under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI), capacity-building programmes such as the Yashaswini Abhiyan for women entrepreneurs, and initiatives to enhance marketing capabilities and technology adoption among MSMEs. She emphasized that the RAMP project will continue for three years with the goal of increasing MSME contributions to GDP and nurturing model entrepreneurs.

Tripura’s RAMP implementation integrates digital adoption through MSME TEAM, circular economy practices under MSE SPICE, green technology promotion via MSE GIFT, and efficient dispute resolution through MSE ODR. The event was attended by TIDC Chairman Nabadal Banik and senior officials of the Industries and Commerce Department.
