Finance and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy announced the development in a social media post, stating that he met STQC Director General M. Vellaipandi and Scientist-G Arvind Kumar Upadhyaya at the State Secretariat, where they held extensive discussions on improving digital governance and safeguarding the state’s information infrastructure.

Roy said the collaboration reflects the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Chief Minister Manik Saha to equip Tripura with stronger cyber security frameworks and reliable digital public services. He added that as the state continues to expand its digital initiatives, ensuring robust security standards has become a priority.

Under the MoU, the STQC Directorate will work closely with the Directorate of Information Technology, Government of Tripura, to implement standardised security protocols. This will include certification programmes, capacity-building exercises, specialised training, seminars, and workshops aimed at strengthening cyber resilience across government departments.

Officials said the partnership is expected to significantly upgrade Tripura’s digital ecosystem by improving compliance with national standards, ensuring more secure government services, and fostering a skilled workforce capable of tackling emerging cyber threats. Enhanced security mechanisms will support the state’s ongoing digital transformation, covering sectors such as governance, public welfare delivery, and administrative efficiency.

With increasing reliance on online services and digital platforms, the MoU is seen as a timely intervention to protect sensitive data, build trust among citizens, and enhance Tripura’s preparedness against evolving cyber challenges. The collaboration is also expected to promote best practices in information security, helping the state align with national digital governance benchmarks.
