According to local sources, six elderly passengers from the Palatana and Shalgara areas were travelling in an auto-rickshaw to attend a Vaishnav religious event when the vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle and another passenger auto on the national highway near Bagmara Hospital Chowmuhani.

The impact of the crash left all occupants injured, several of them bleeding profusely. Local residents immediately informed the authorities, and fire service personnel reached the scene within minutes. The injured were rescued and taken to Gomati District Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors later referred two of the critically injured victims to GB Hospital in Agartala for advanced medical care, while the remaining five continue to receive treatment in the surgical ward of Gomati District Hospital.

Police from Radhakishorepur Police Station soon arrived and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that reckless driving and speeding might have led to the collision.

Meanwhile, local residents voiced concern over the rising number of road accidents in Udaipur subdivision. They alleged that despite repeated mishaps, authorities have failed to enforce strict traffic regulations. “Accidents are becoming alarmingly frequent in this area, often causing serious injuries or even deaths. There is a clear lack of traffic discipline and monitoring,” a local resident said.

Police have assured that necessary steps will be taken to identify the erring drivers and strengthen traffic enforcement to prevent similar incidents in the future.
