The event was formally inaugurated by Science and Technology Minister Animesh Debbarma, who underscored the need to nurture scientific curiosity and promote innovation among students from an early stage.

“This initiative is part of our continued effort to bring science closer to young learners,” said Minister Debbarma. “We want students to remain connected with scientific thinking and experiment with small-scale technological innovations. The Department of Science and Technology is extending financial support to encourage such efforts,” he added.

This year’s programme revolves around the theme ‘Indigenous Technologies for Sustainable Development’, emphasizing the significance of local knowledge systems, eco-friendly innovations, and sustainable practices in addressing modern challenges.

Students from various institutions presented research projects developed over the past year, showcasing innovative ideas in biodiversity conservation, scientific processing of indigenous and organic foods, and sustainable technology applications aimed at improving livelihoods and environmental balance.

Minister Debbarma highlighted that the state government has been allocating dedicated funds to support student-led scientific projects and foster a strong research ecosystem in Tripura.

The programme also featured interactive sessions, expert talks, and discussions designed to ignite interest in science among young minds and motivate them to contribute to the state’s progress through research, innovation, and the practical application of indigenous technologies.
