Agartala, Oct 9 — The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday submitted a deputation to the NCC Police Station, demanding immediate arrests and strict action against those involved in the recent vandalism at the party’s state office in Agartala.

The protest was led by senior TMC leaders, including party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh and Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev. The leaders alleged that the attack, which took place two days ago, was orchestrated by supporters of the ruling party. The miscreants reportedly damaged property, tore down party banners, and desecrated photographs of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Addressing the media, MP Sushmita Dev said the party had filed an FIR under the direction of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. “I’m speaking not just as a lawyer but as a political activist. This incident took place at our office, and the police could have taken suo motu action. Our youth and women members had hoped we wouldn’t need to come here, but the inaction forced us to act,” she said.

Dev also criticized the police for failing to make arrests despite the availability of video evidence. Drawing a comparison with West Bengal, she remarked, “When MP Khagen Murmu was attacked there, four people were arrested within 24 hours. Here, three days have passed and nothing has been done.”

The TMC leaders warned that such acts of political intimidation would not deter the party’s activities in Tripura. They announced their intention to explore legal options, including approaching the court to ensure a fair and transparent investigation. The leaders reiterated that the TMC would continue its struggle for justice and accountability, vowing not to let such incidents go unpunished.
