Agartala, Sept 26:
State BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee on Friday participated in a plantation programme under the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) College, Agartala. As part of the event, Bhattacharjee also unveiled a newly installed Tower Clock on the college campus. The programme was sponsored by Tripura Gramin Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharjee described the initiative as “a wonderful step towards greenery and growth,” appreciating the MBB College campus for its unique blend of development and natural beauty. He remarked that the institution is widely recognized across Tripura for preserving its lush green environment, making it a landmark for visitors to the state.
Emphasizing the significance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, Bhattacharjee said it is not just a slogan but a movement aimed at strengthening the bond between people and nature. He applauded the joint efforts of government agencies, private organizations, and citizens in working towards environmental sustainability.
Addressing the students, the MP urged them to take personal responsibility for the trees planted on the campus. “Planting a sapling is just the beginning; nurturing and protecting it is equally important. Youth must take the lead in caring for greenery and inspire others to follow the same path,” he said.
Unveiling the Tower Clock, sponsored by Tripura Gramin Bank, Bhattacharjee added that it has given a symbolic touch to the occasion. “The clock will mark time with a renewed commitment to nature and progress,” he remarked, linking the installation to the broader theme of sustainable development.
The programme concluded with students and faculty members pledging to actively support plantation and conservation efforts on the campus.
