Agartala, Sep 8 — Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday reiterated the state government’s focus on infrastructure development and social welfare, as he virtually inaugurated 14 projects and laid the foundation stone for five others at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala.

Projects worth nearly ₹61 crore were launched, including nine Anganwadi Centres in Jirania and Mohanpur and foundation-laying for five 100-bedded Working Women’s Hostels in Abhoynagar, AD Nagar, Bodhjungnagar, Sabroom, and Belonia, along with a 50-bedded Boys’ Hostel under DIET.

Dr. Saha announced that financial approval has been granted to set up two new One Stop Centres in Kailashahar and Agartala. The Social Welfare and Social Education Department is also providing monthly pensions of ₹2,000 each to 14,575 Divyangjans.

As part of Poshan Abhiyan, 11,130 smartphones equipped with the Poshan Tracker App have been distributed to Anganwadi workers at a cost of ₹12.89 crore, funded by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development.

The Chief Minister highlighted that Tripura ranks fifth nationally and first among northeastern states in drafting a roadmap aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. Under this, 10 new Working Women’s Hostels will be constructed, offering gyms, recreation centres, sports courts, childcare facilities, and 24-hour security.

He added that 46 Anganwadi Centres have already been set up under the DONER Ministry’s North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme. An ‘After Care Home’ is also being established for young women aged 18–21 under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.

Dr. Saha revealed that projects worth over ₹800 crore have been inaugurated or launched across subdivisions in 2025 (up to August). Welfare measures include rehabilitation grants, disability ID cards, sponsorship schemes, and recruitment of Anganwadi staff.

Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy and senior officials attended the event.
