Agartala, Aug 9, 2025 — The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Saturday commemorated Quit India Movement Day at its state headquarters in Agartala, paying tribute to one of the most defining chapters in India’s freedom struggle. The observance honoured the sacrifices of countless patriots who, in 1942, heeded Mahatma Gandhi’s historic “Do or Die” call to end British colonial rule.

In a dual celebration, the TPCC also marked the Youth Congress Foundation Day, reflecting the enduring role of young voices in shaping India’s democratic journey. The event was held in front of the party headquarters, where senior leaders, party workers, and youth members gathered in solidarity.

TPCC president Ashish Kumar Saha, Congress MLAs, Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha, and other senior leaders participated in the ceremony. Floral tributes were offered to the freedom fighters, followed by speeches recalling the courage, unity, and resilience that fuelled the Quit India Movement.

Addressing the media, TPCC president Ashish Kumar Saha said, “The Quit India Movement was not just a call for independence—it was a call for courage, unity, and sacrifice. Today, as we honour that legacy, we must remember that the fight for justice and democracy continues. Let us draw inspiration from our freedom fighters to build an inclusive, progressive, and fearless India.”

Pradesh Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha highlighted the organisation’s historical roots, saying, “The Youth Congress was born from the spirit of change and the power of young voices. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to progress, justice, and democratic values. The youth are not just the future—they are the force of today.”

The commemorative gathering concluded with renewed pledges to uphold democratic ideals and champion the causes of equality, social justice, and unity across Tripura and the nation.
