Bishalgarh, Aug 9: The Bishalgarh District Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment with rigorous punishment for the brutal murder of his friend in Kamalasagar tea garden in 2023. The judgment was delivered on Friday, bringing closure to a case that had shocked the local community with its sheer brutality.
According to case details, on November 23, 2023, two friends—Bhakta Munda and Janesh Munda—were returning home after attending a wedding. An argument broke out between them during the journey, which quickly escalated into violence. In a fit of rage, Bhakta Munda picked up a brick and struck Janesh Munda on the head, crushing his skull and killing him on the spot.
The incident took place within the premises of the Kamalasagar tea estate and was witnessed by locals who later helped the police with critical information. Following a prompt investigation and the filing of the chargesheet, the case was heard in the Bishalgarh court.
On Friday, the court found Bhakta Munda guilty of murder under relevant sections of the IPC and sentenced him to life imprisonment with rigorous punishment. The verdict serves as a stern message against violent crimes, especially those arising out of personal disputes.
Government prosecutor Ripon Sarkar, who represented the state, confirmed the sentencing and expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision. He stated that the prosecution was able to establish a clear chain of evidence and witness testimonies that led to the conviction.
The case highlights the deadly consequences of uncontrolled anger and emphasizes the importance of conflict resolution through peaceful means. Authorities have urged the public to seek legal or community help in disputes rather than resorting to violence.
