Agartala: July 16: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday reiterated his government’s commitment to all-round development and transparent job creation, with a strong focus on tribal welfare and quality public services. Speaking at a programme to distribute appointment letters to 184 newly recruited Junior Engineers (Diploma) – TES Gr-V(B) at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala, the Chief Minister said his government has delivered 19,484 regular jobs over the past seven years, including die-in-harness cases, as of June 27 this year.

Dr. Saha highlighted that these appointments reflect the government’s commitment to merit-based recruitment and infrastructure development. He urged the new recruits to undergo quality training and contribute to timely execution of projects under the Public Works Department (PWD). “Engineers play a vital role in ensuring the success of our infrastructure goals,” he said.

The Chief Minister listed several key upcoming projects aimed at transforming Agartala’s urban landscape, including the Light House Project, an international-standard stadium, eastern and western bypasses, a flyover, a star hotel at Pushpabanta Palace, and a multi-level car parking facility. These, he noted, would significantly change the face of the city.

Dr. Saha also emphasized the need to adopt modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a digitally empowered India.

Addressing recent controversies, the Chief Minister defended the state’s decision to make the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate (PRTC) mandatory for government jobs. He claimed that certain groups were attempting to malign the government by challenging this move in court.

On a positive note, he added that Tripura is witnessing a steady rise in foreign tourist arrivals, indicating growing interest in the state’s tourism sector.

Ministers Ratanlal Nath and Pranajit Singha Roy, along with PWD Secretary Kiran Gitte and ICA Secretary Dr. P.K. Chakraborty, were present at the event.
