Agartala: May 10: Tipra Motha Party founder and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has once again affirmed his unwavering stance on the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, declaring that he would rather relinquish power than betray the trust of the people. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Debbarman emphasized that the party joined the ruling alliance solely based on assurances regarding the accord’s implementation.

“We are waiting patiently for the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord. If I can’t fulfill the promises I made to my people, I have no moral right to remain in power,” he said, adding that he has already conveyed this to the party’s ministers and most MLAs.

He acknowledged the central government’s current focus on the recent Pahalgam terror attack, but stressed that the Tiprasa issue remains unresolved despite several positive meetings in Delhi. “It’s been 18 months, and while discussions in Delhi are encouraging, progress stops afterward. Time is running out. I still have hope that the Union Home Minister will stand by his commitment,” Debbarman stated.

In a significant move, Debbarman also announced the launch of a dedicated helpline aimed at addressing the issue of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Tripura. This helpline will allow residents to report suspected cases without taking the law into their own hands.

“This helpline is a proactive step to gather information swiftly. If anyone spots suspected illegal immigrants, they can inform us through the helpline. Our leaders will coordinate with the District Administration for legal action. We cannot afford to let unauthorized entries jeopardize our future,” he explained.

Appealing to the citizens of Tripura, Debbarman called for unity beyond party lines to protect the state’s interests. “Let’s rise above politics and act in the larger interest of Tripura,” he urged.

The Tipra Motha Party continues to maintain that its loyalty lies with the people and not with the pursuit of power, keeping the Tiprasa cause at the center of its political agenda.
