The joint operation involved personnel from the Agartala Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Intelligence Department. The arrests were confirmed by Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Agartala GRPS, Tapas Das.

According to OC Das, the duo was intercepted during routine checks at the station. “During initial interrogation, the accused admitted that they had entered India illegally and were planning to board a train to Kolkata,” he stated.

The arrested individuals have been identified as a Bangladeshi national who had crossed the border without valid documents, and an Indian national suspected to be a broker facilitating such illegal movements. Police believe the Indian broker was part of a larger network involved in cross-border human trafficking or illegal migration.

A case has been formally registered at the Agartala GRP police station under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act and other applicable laws. Both individuals are set to be produced before the Court, where police will seek custody for further interrogation.

Authorities are continuing investigations and expect to uncover more information that could lead to additional arrests. Officials suspect that the incident may be linked to a broader trafficking network operating across the India-Bangladesh border.

Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to strengthening surveillance at border transit points and railway stations to curb illegal cross-border activities and ensure national security.
