Agartala, June 4:In a significant security operation, a group of 13 individuals—allegedly linked to the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS)—was detained from a rented house near Hapania, close to Tripura Medical College, in the early hours of Wednesday.

According to police sources, the group, including two women, had illegally crossed into Indian territory nearly a week ago. They reportedly entered through the Tripura-Bangladesh border seeking medical treatment after a violent clash at their camp in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. During the incident, five members of the group sustained bullet injuries, believed to have occurred during an internal conflict or encounter.

The group had rented a house under Amtali police station limits and was residing there discreetly while receiving medical care. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police launched a late-night operation and successfully detained the individuals. Following initial interrogation, all 13 were handed over to the Mobile Task Force (MTF), the specialized unit responsible for handling cases of illegal infiltration and cross-border movement.

The detained individuals have been identified as Thuithui Moh (23), Angla Mog (35), Rumel Chakma (37), Aoj Chakma alias Shanta (30), Dravid Chakma (24), Ramen Chakma (24), Mik Chakma (28), Nirbhoy Chakma (27), Choice Chakma (21), Bitu Chakma (17), Kimon Chakma (22), and two females—Purna Chakma (24), wife of Nirbhoy Chakma, and Nayanchi Mog.

Police have not issued an official statement on their nationality or affiliations but confirmed that investigations are ongoing. The incident has heightened security concerns in the region, with authorities now probing possible links to cross-border insurgent networks.
