Agartala, May 17: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) is mourning the loss of one of its devoted members, Bijan Acharjee, whose passing has left the party deeply saddened. Politburo member and CPI(M) Tripura State Secretary Jitendra Chowdhury expressed heartfelt condolences and paid tribute to the late leader’s unwavering commitment to the party.

On the day his mortal remains were brought to the CPI(M) state office at Melar Maath, a solemn gathering of senior party leaders and supporters assembled to pay their final respects. Among those present were former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, Left Front convenor Manik Dey, former Minister Ratan Bhowmik, former Member of Parliament Shankar Prasad Dutta, and several other CPI(M) leaders who fondly remembered Acharjee’s dedication and contributions.

Speaking to journalists following the tribute, Jitendra Chowdhury described Comrade Bijan Acharjee as a “skilled and loyal worker” of the CPI(M). He recalled that Acharjee had previously worked in a bank, and after his retirement, he joined the CPI(M) state office as an accountant. In that role, he served with exceptional diligence, reliability, and integrity—earning the trust of the party leadership and colleagues alike.

Chowdhury expressed profound grief over Acharjee’s untimely demise, highlighting the vacuum his absence would create within the party organization. He praised Acharjee’s life of simplicity, hard work, and dedication to the cause of the working class.

The CPI(M) family, along with friends, comrades, and supporters, mourns the loss of Bijan Acharjee and extends deepest sympathies to his family during this difficult time. His contributions will be remembered as part of the party’s enduring legacy in Tripura.
