Dr. Murugan chaired a district-wise review meeting at the Conference Hall of the Circuit House in Belonia. The meeting covered a range of government initiatives including the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, PM Janman, MGNREGA, Jal Jeevan Mission, Lakhpati Didi, Health and Education departments, Social Welfare, Sports, Agriculture, Forest, and Balika Mancha, among others.

He stressed that the purpose of his visit was to assess ground-level implementation and identify any deficiencies. Highlighting the Prime Minister’s vision, Dr. Murugan said that developing border villages in the North Eastern states is a key national priority. He reiterated that building an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) is central to the government’s mission and noted South Tripura’s potential in cashew export as an example of local economic empowerment.

Dr. Murugan also visited Belonia District Hospital, where he interacted with children, staff, and medical personnel. Expressing satisfaction with the hospital’s infrastructure and services, he commended the efforts of health workers. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to expanding healthcare access by upgrading infrastructure at primary health centers and establishing one medical college in every district. He added that medical education has also been strengthened, with the number of seats across the country increasing to 75,000.

The minister thanked local officials for their dedication and reaffirmed the Centre’s support in driving sustainable development in Tripura and the North Eastern region.
