The event aimed to spotlight the urgent need for effective measures to ensure women’s safety and representation in politics.

The program began with a street meeting at Vivekananda Maidan, followed by a protest march through several city streets. The march concluded at Congress Bhavan. During the demonstration, speakers called on the state government to take immediate and decisive action to combat violence against women and children. They stressed that ensuring women’s safety is critical at every level of society, from households to public spaces. In addition to advocating for stronger policies against violence, they emphasized the need to fast-track the implementation of the Women’s Reservation Bill, which seeks to guarantee 33% representation for women in legislative bodies.

The Women’s Congress also revealed plans to collaborate with the Provincial Women’s Congress for future statewide protest programs. These efforts aim to further mobilize support for the Women’s Reservation Bill and strengthen the push for systemic changes to protect women and children from violence. The demonstration reflected a growing demand for greater gender equality and stronger safeguards for women’s rights in India.
