Agartala: Mar 05: On the occasion of the second anniversary of the BJP government in Tripura, BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda will attend a large public meeting at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on March 9. This was announced during a press conference at the state BJP office by BJP State President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharya. During the press conference, Bhattacharya also criticized the CPI(M), accusing them of having oppressed the people for 25 years while in power. He pointed out that it was ironic that now the CPI(M) claims there is no rule of law in the state.
Bhattacharya emphasized that the BJP government has made significant developmental strides over the past two years, which will be showcased at the upcoming public meeting. The BJP plans to present the achievements of the government at various levels — from district and booth-level to mandal-level — to the public. The event will be attended by prominent BJP leaders including JP Nadda, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Minister Ratan Lal Nath, and other party officials. Bhattacharya urged the general public to attend the event.
To bolster the reach of the rally, separate organizational meetings will be held by various BJP wings, including the Women’s Wing, Youth Wing, and other party leaders. Bhattacharya highlighted the government’s efforts towards empowering women, youth, and farmers, stating that the BJP’s policies have benefited people from all sections of society. He also mentioned that the government has introduced a 33% reservation for women in state government jobs, a significant step towards women’s empowerment. Additionally, the BJP government has worked towards improving the state’s communication infrastructure.
Bhattacharya further responded to CPI(M)’s claim of a lack of rule of law, stating that the BJP government has made consistent efforts to curb drug-related crimes. Under the current administration, over 2,300 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act between 2020 and 2024, and individuals from all backgrounds, including party members, have been arrested without bias. He criticized the CPI(M) for its previous rule, accusing them of having exploited the people for 25 years.
