Agartala: Feb 26: The ‘Amra Bangali’ organization has strongly condemned and protested against the recent blockade of the national highway by former militants during the state board examinations. On February 25th, former members of the Tripura United Indigenous Returnees People’s Council, who had surrendered at the foothills of Baramura hill, blocked the national highway for seven consecutive hours to press for their 21-point demands. This blockade caused significant inconvenience for teachers, examinees, and other affected individuals. The road was cleared after administrative officials provided assurances, but the group threatened further actions if their demands were not met.

The ‘Amra Bangali’ organization has highlighted that the memory of the 2017 11-day continuous national highway blockade by the IPFT is still vivid in the minds of the state’s residents. They also recalled the suffering endured during that period. In their statement, ‘Amra Bangali’ condemned the recent protest and recalled the Bengali-hating Sengrak Party’s 80 June genocide, the eviction of Bengalis from remote areas of the ADC, and various crimes including kidnapping, murder, and rape.

The organization has called for the formation of a judicial inquiry commission to identify and punish the perpetrators of the 80 June genocide and all subsequent genocides according to the law. They have also demanded full compensation and rehabilitation with security for all those killed, injured, and affected in the 80 June and subsequent genocides.

Additionally, the ‘Amra Bangali’ organization has demanded a guarantee of employment through block-based development plans to ensure the proper utilization of Tripura’s natural and human resources. They have also called for the establishment of the constitutional rights of Bengalis in Tripura by stopping false propaganda.

Furthermore, the organization criticized the BJP-led government in the state, alleging that they are patronizing extremists for vote bank politics, which is contributing to the rise of extremist activities in the state.
