Agartala: Feb 19: On Wednesday morning, two bodies were found in Agartala city, creating a wave of shock and speculation. One body was discovered in the field of Swami Vivekananda Maidan, and the other was found in a rented house in East Shibnagar, the capital’s residential area.

The first body, severely mutilated, was found in the Swami Vivekananda Maidan by local residents early in the morning. They alerted the police, who sent the body for post-mortem at GB Hospital’s morgue. Locals identified the deceased as an unidentified person, reportedly from the Nepali Bosti area in the capital’s Barojala region. For several months, this person had been roaming around Lake Chaumuhani market like a beggar. After the body was found, many speculated that it might have been an unnatural death. Some believed the person had suffered injuries, particularly to the ears, possibly inflicted by rats or dogs. Others thought the injuries could be due to the influence of drug addicts in the area, especially since the park had become a haven for them after evening hours. However, the police have suggested that it was the death of a sick person, and there has been no clear investigation into the cause.

Meanwhile, the second body was discovered in a rented house near Anik Club in East Shibnagar. The deceased was identified as Bipul Jamatia, a student from Maharani, who had been staying in Agartala for his studies. According to the landlord, Kamal Kumar Pal, Bipul had been unwell for several days. On Wednesday morning, when the landlord entered his room, he found the body lying lifeless. Bipul was a student of MBBS at the local medical college. His father, Ananta Kumar Jamatia, confirmed that Bipul had been physically ill, and they believed his death was due to health complications. The sudden deaths have raised questions, and the investigations are awaited to clarify the circumstances surrounding them.
