Agartala: Jan 18: A procession and meeting were organized by the CPI(M) Bishalgarh subdivision committee to demand employment for the unemployed and raise various other concerns. The procession, which began from the Officetila party office, was planned to go around the Bishalgarh market and return to Officetila for a street corner meeting. However, the Bishalgarh police diverted the procession from its original route near the fire service area. Police forces were deployed along the road, with barricades set up to control the movement.

Prominent leaders such as former minister Bhanulal Saha, CPI(M) state committee editorial board member Manik De, MLA Shyamal Chakraborty, former MLA Keshab Devbarma, and other state-level CPI(M) leaders were present to support the procession. In his speech, Manik De criticized the BJP-led state government, accusing it of creating chaos in Tripura over the past six years. He pointed out that corruption had spread throughout the state, leading to widespread dissatisfaction.

De further announced that a public convention would be organized on January 29, 30, and 31 to protest against the government’s policies. He urged the people to actively participate in the convention to voice their concerns.

The procession was primarily organized to highlight several pressing issues faced by the people. These included demands for employment for the unemployed, the provision of 200 days of work at a wage of Rs. 600, control of rising prices, financial assistance for those affected by floods, and the timely supply of fertilizers and agricultural inputs to farmers. The procession emphasized the need for the government to address these urgent issues and provide relief to the common people. The event underscored the CPI(M)’s commitment to standing up for the rights of the people and pushing for necessary policy changes.
