Agartala: Jan 16: The Police Week Parade 2025 was held on Thursday at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Police Parade Ground in AD Nagar, Agartala, marking a significant occasion. The event was inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, and was attended by key officials, including State Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, and other senior police officers. Before the ceremony, the Chief Minister paid tribute at the Martyrs’ Memorial by laying a wreath in honor of the fallen heroes.
The event commenced with a grand parade, showcasing the participation of state police, TSR (Tripura State Rifles), and traffic personnel, with eight platoons involved in the display. In his speech, the Chief Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the Tripura Police, emphasizing their pride in receiving the President’s Colours. He praised the state’s police force for its integrity, which has placed Tripura Police at the top in terms of honesty and dedication. He also urged police personnel to maintain transparency in their work to retain the public’s trust, as the people often turn to the police during times of distress.
The Chief Minister shared the state’s remarkable progress in law and order, citing that Tripura moved from fifth to third in terms of law and order rankings from 2023 to 2024. He also commended the police for ensuring peaceful conduct during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, which earned praise from the Election Commission.
Notably, crime statistics showed a significant reduction in property-related crimes, attacks, physical offenses, and crimes against women, highlighting the success of police efforts. He also pointed out the ongoing drive against narcotics, with 1,666 drug-related cases filed, leading to significant seizures and arrests. In a symbolic gesture, the Chief Minister awarded the best police officers and stations, with the Bishramganj Police Station receiving the “Best Police Station” award from the central government.
