Agratala: Dec 10: A historic protest march and public meeting was held in Kailashahar on Tuesday afternoon by the Hindu Ekta Manch, demanding the release of Chinmoy Das, a spokesperson for ISKCON in Bangladesh, and protesting against the atrocities against minorities in Bangladesh. The march was led by lawyers Sandeep Debroy, Gautam Das, Deepak Bhattacharya, and others. The protest march started from the Tri-Junction in the Srirampur area and traversed through Kailashahar town’s Govindapur, Central Road, Hospital Road, P.W.D Road, Netaji Corner, Girls School Road, Shanitala Road, and other major roads, culminating in a public meeting at the R.K.I School ground located adjacent to the India-Bangladesh international border.
Before the public meeting began, the protesters went to the India-Bangladesh international border at Manu Land Customs in Kailashahar and protested against the Bangladesh border guards. They protested against Bangladesh for about half an hour. Later, the police controlled the situation and the public meeting began. However, in addition to the BSF, there was a heavy deployment of CRPF, police, and TSR forces at the border.
Addressing the public meeting, lawyer Sandeep Debroy said that the Yunus government of Bangladesh has unjustly arrested ISKCON spokesperson Chinmoy Das. He said that the Hindu Ekta Manch will continue to protest against the Bangladesh government until the Bangladesh government unconditionally releases Yunus. Moreover, the way minorities are being persecuted indiscriminately in Bangladesh cannot be tolerated. The whole world is protesting against it. Bangladesh has forgotten that if the Indian government had not come forward to help in 1971, independent Bangladesh would not have been born. Sandeep Babu also mentioned that they are portraying themselves as Mir Jafar.
