Agartala: Dec 10: On December 21, Tripura will host the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) for the first time. In preparation for this significant event, Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha visited several locations in the capital city, Agartala, on Tuesday to inspect the arrangements. He specifically visited the Ujjayanta Palace and Pragya Bhawan to review the preparations for the meeting and provided necessary instructions to the concerned administrative officials.
In a conversation with the media, Dr. Saha mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in the state on December 20 to attend the NEC meeting. He said, “The 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council will be held in Tripura. A special event will be organized at the Ujjayanta Palace. We have reviewed the arrangements and preparations with the officials here. We have also reviewed the management of the plenary session venue. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is the NEC Chairman, will be attending the session on December 21.”
Dr. Saha further mentioned that the North Eastern-Space Application Centre (NE-SAC) meeting would also take place during this period, calling it an important development for the state.
Apart from Amit Shah, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia, governors, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, chief secretaries, and other senior officials from the northeastern states will attend the session. Discussions on the development and various projects in the region will be a major focus of the meeting, which is seen as a moment of pride for Tripura.
The Chief Minister also shared details of his recent meeting with Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries, during a swearing-in ceremony in Maharashtra. Dr. Saha invited Ambani and his son Anant Ambani to visit Tripura, and the Ambanis expressed a keen interest in the state. A team from Reliance is expected to visit soon, and Dr. Saha is optimistic about the future collaboration.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during the visit were Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, Secretary of the Industry and Commerce Department Kiran Gitte, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dr. Shailesh Kumar Yadav, and other senior officials.
