Tripura Faces Severe Damage Due to Heavy Rainfall

Agartala: August 21:Tripura has suffered extensive damage due to four consecutive days of heavy rainfall. According to the state disaster management department’s report:

Seven people have lost their lives, and two have been injured due to landslides triggered by the incessant rain. Over 17 houses have been completely destroyed, 250 severely damaged, and 620 partially damaged across the state. Thousands of people have been displaced and are currently residing in relief camps set up across various districts. Roads, bridges, and other infrastructure have been damaged or blocked due to landslides and waterlogging. River water levels have exceeded danger marks in many areas.

Relief camps have been set up, housing thousands of people. 51 affected families have been sheltered in 5 relief camps. 12 relief camps have been set up in Kailashahar and Kumarghar, housing thousands of affected families. Teliamura subdivision has been severely affected, with one person injured due to a landslide. 36 relief camps have been set up. Kamalpur, Ambassa, Longtarai Valley, and Gandacherra have been severely affected. Numerous houses have been damaged, and relief camps have been set up. Bishalgarh, Jampuijala, and Sonamura have suffered significant damage. Bilonia, Sabrum, and Shantirbazar have been affected by landslides and floods. Udaipur, Karbuk, and Amarpur have been affected, with one death reported in Karbuk.

Overall, the situation in Tripura is dire, with widespread damage to property and infrastructure. The state government has initiated relief and rescue operations, setting up numerous relief camps to provide shelter and aid to the affected population.
