Agartala, May 26: Despite the passage of 26 days, Raju Barman, the primary suspect in the murder of Bharat Ratna Sangha secretary Durga Prasad Deb (also known as Vicky), continues to evade capture. The unresolved case has sparked outrage among local residents, prompting a silent procession on Sunday to demand justice and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators.
The procession, initiated in front of the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club, saw community members join forces with club Secretary Chandan Chakraborty and other club officials. Their collective plea resonated with frustration and a call for swift action.
Chandan Chakraborty expressed unwavering confidence in the police administration’s abilities. However, the fact that Raju Barman remains at large raises concerns. Authorities believe that additional individuals may be involved in the crime, further complicating the investigation.
Secretary Chakraborty emphasized that the legal process would unfold as it should, with law enforcement diligently pursuing leads. Meanwhile, the community’s sentiment is clear: Raju Barman should not regain membership in the Bharat Ratna Sangha Club, and he must be removed from the area altogether. A mass signature campaign is underway, reflecting the collective desire for justice and accountability.
As the search for Raju Barman continues, the community remains resolute in seeking closure for the tragic loss of Durga Prasad Deb.
