A number of leaders and supporters from the Motha Party and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday, marking a significant political development in the state. The induction programme was held at the BJP state headquarters, Kushabhau Bhavan, in the presence of senior party leaders.

Addressing a press conference on the occasion, BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, office secretary Mihir Sarkar, state media in-charge Sunit Sarkar, and Sadar Gramin district BJP president Gouranga Bhowmik were present. During the interaction with the media, Sunit Sarkar also paid tribute while recalling the contributions of late Bishwabandhu Sen.

Speaking on the growing support for the party, Bipin Debbarma said that people from various political backgrounds were joining the BJP every day, inspired by the development-oriented governance under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. He asserted that the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development, peace and stability in Tripura had strengthened public confidence in the party.

Several leaders from the Motha Party and IPFT joined the BJP during the programme. Those who switched allegiance included Bapi Rupini, Manimala Debbarma, Sumiti Debbarma, Prabharani Debbarma and Budhiram Debbarma, among others. Leaders from Mandai and Simna areas also formally joined the party, further expanding the BJP’s organisational base in the region.

Bipin Debbarma informed that a total of 72 families, comprising around 246 voters, joined the BJP on the same day. The newly inducted members were warmly welcomed by senior BJP leaders, who expressed confidence that their inclusion would further strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

Party leaders said the fresh inductions reflected growing dissatisfaction among people with other regional parties and increasing faith in the BJP’s vision for the overall development of Tripura. They added that the BJP would continue to work towards welfare-oriented policies, empowerment of indigenous communities, and sustained development across urban and rural areas of the state.

The BJP leadership expressed optimism that the new entrants would play an active role in taking the party’s agenda to the people and contributing to the party’s organisational growth in the coming days.
